April 21st, 2023, was Creative and Innovation Day! And who better to lead the festivities than Creative Hub Africa?! This organisation is at the forefront of championing creativity and innovation in Africa, encouraging young people across multiple disciplines to pursue their passions and reach for excellence. From fashion design to software engineering, graphic design to film directing, there’s no limit to what can be achieved with a little bit of imagination and determination. Let’s dive into how Creative Hub Africa celebrated this momentous occasion!
The day was all about celebrating creativity and innovation in Sierra Leone. The event was held at the hub in Freetown and brought together some of the best creative minds in the country with a Talent Show during the day for children ages 3-12, and an Open Mic Night for up-and-coming artists to showcase their talents. The open mic night was open to all genres of performance, including but not limited to music, dance, drama, spoken word, and comedy.
“Creative Hub Africa is a great example of an organisation that supports the celebration of creativity and innovation. By hosting this event every year, they are helping bring more attention to how important it is for us to recognise and appreciate the various ways in which individuals can make use of their creative talents. We all have something unique to offer – let’s not forget that our individual contributions play an integral part in making the world a better place.”- Isatu Harrison, CEO of Creative Hub Africa.
Other highlights of the event included a performance from members of the African Heritage Group and a live performance by the popular band, Telem Uncut. The event was a great success and Creative Hub Africa is already looking forward to next year’s event!
